Conference Organising Committee
There are seven members of the organising committee, made up of a combination of CODA France Directors and volunteers.
Jennifer Denis Jennifer joined the Board of Directors for CODA France in 2016. She is in charge of international relations, with the aim of (a) promoting and facilitating exchange at an international level and (b) developing positive international relations and sharing best practices with CODA organisations across Europe and around the world. She attended the 2015 International CODA Conference in Reading, UK.
Karina Denis Karina joined the CODA France Board of Directors in 2014. She is in charge of the organisation’s communication channels, including social media. Her objective is to further develop the organisation and to raise awareness of CODAs throughout France by targeting deaf-related organisations in France and abroad, and by using social media and face-to-face networking opportunities. She participated in the Francofolie festival in 2012 where she did a sign-song with a CODA rapper. She also appeared on a ‘women’s show’ where she shared her CODA stories. Karina attended the 2015 International CODA Conference in Reading, UK.
Sonia Fiore Sonia organised France’s very first international CODA symposium in 2009 where she invited CODAs and their deaf parents to establish the CODA France that we know today. She has been the Chair ever since. Sonia is currently involved in delivering the Baccalauréat LSF alongside a deaf parent. This project aims to help CODAs prepare for a baccalaureate qualification in LSF while also offering opportunities for them to think about issues of biculturalism and the CODA identity.
Sandrine Knus Sandrine has been the Vice-Chair of CODA France since 2013. She is in charge of managing and developing projects within the organisation, including delivering baby sign language courses to hearing (and sometimes CODA) parents. She is also in the process of creating a new website for CODA France. Sandrine will be attending the 2017 International CODA Conference in Vancouver.
Elodia Mottot Elodia has been passionate about community work since her teens. Her work experience lies in both the arts and in deaf organisations. She is a qualified manager, theater teacher, actress, LSF teacher and LSF interpreter. In 2015, she co-created Effet Culture, which promotes sign language and CODA culture.
David Ohana David is a graphic designer interested in bridging the gap between the hearing and deaf worlds. He co-founded his current company, Mains Diamant, a deaf and hearing-led organisation directed by an Artistic Director and an LSF Interpreter. His company created the first online dictionary of LSF and currently provides several services, including an online shop selling deaf-related merchandise. He is currently working on a project based at the Abbé de l’Epée University, the very first bilingual university in the Europe. David occasionally volunteers for CODA France by creating visuals, such as posters and leaflets.
